I’m An Adult?

I feel that I’ve reached a crossroads in my life. Almost as if growing up is like an involuntary transport into an opposite realm. On one end of the continuum lies the memories and innocence of childhood, whereas adulthood holds my sudden reality. Childhood being so familiar and comfortable, and could easily be mastered two or even three more times were I to be given the chance. But, this new life, this adulthood, is large and scary and unexplored. So much room for mistakes and no one to stand over my shoulder and correct me. No one to report to at the end of each school day, and receive guidance for how to proceed with the following school day. I freaking love my parents now, but I can’t go home to them every day to be fed, coddled, and nurtured.

They could have prepared me for this, though. This new reality is so real it just hit me like a ton of bricks. I only know that I cannot fail. But, I always seem to wonder, how do I ensure this? Parents provide the structure and purpose for life in childhood, but how does a young adult go about conquering the fear of the unknown?
